Health Insurance After a Cancer Diagnosis: What to Check

A diagnosis does not automatically make you uninsurable

If you qualify for Marketplace coverage, a pre-existing condition cannot by itself cause denial of coverage, higher premiums or exclusion of essential health benefits. This does not establish eligibility for every patient traveling to the U.S.

Enrollment and effective dates are separate questions

Confirm enrollment windows, any special-enrollment eligibility and the effective date. Submitting an application does not establish that treatment starting that day is covered.

Check the treatment you actually need

Verify participating hospitals and doctors, drug formularies, prior authorization and cost sharing. Eligibility to buy a policy does not by itself establish payment for a treatment.

Where HealUSA focuses its assistance

Review eligibility to apply separately from coverage for your existing illness. Request policy terms, benefit explanations and written confirmation before enrollment and treatment planning. Other insurance types require their own pre-existing-condition review.
